London Raiders is committed this season to provide tournament opportunities for all levels of play from lower recreational to competitive play. We recognise that many players want to have fun and play less competitively as well as those who want to focus on competitive play.

This season we are launching a new approach to fielding Competitive Tournament teams for the 2026 season, focused on the creation of two competitive Raiders tournament squads for 2026:

1) Raiders Competitive Squad (NSL3 Pipeline)

We are seeking to create a squad of 18-20 players who will enter 3–4 Competitive  tournaments across the season, with a focus on building towards and preparing for  a future NSL3 team.

Squad

The Squad will be selected on the following criteria:

  • Raiders members (full or casual).

  • Players will be selected on merit + roster needs + reliability .

  • Able and willing to commit to the majority of the planned tournaments (including two-day tournaments).

  • Positive attitude and team-first approach.

  • All positions will be covered with an even spread of players to build resilience.

Tournament selection

This will focus on (but not limited to):

  • Jubilee Cup (30/31 May),

  • Windsor (11/12 July),

  • Labour Day (18/19 July, tbc)

Captain Selection

3 Captains will be selected to offer resilience and flexibility for the selection and running of the tournaments and the squad. Captains will be confirmed by Club Managers in a similar way as league captains, supported by Tournament Officers, and appointed in early March.

2) Raiders Intermediate Tournament Squad

A second squad with a more flexible membership will be aimed at players who want to step up their tournament competitiveness, with a plan to enter ~3 tournaments this year (likely Lower Rec, with flexibility depending on roster).

Eligibility / expectations
  • Open to all Raiders (full or casual), selected on merit + roster needs + reliability.

  • Commitment to the majority of planned tournaments (including two-day tournaments).

  • Good attitude and availability to help create stable entries.

Tournament Selection

Potential tournaments include Trash Pandas Takeover (23/24 May), Jubilee Cup (30/31 May), Cardiff Daffodil (6/7 June), Windsor (11/12 July), Bristol Wreck (22/23 Aug).

Captain Selection

Captain call-out (Intermediate Squad) We need 2 captains, who can commit to the planned tournaments. Captains will be confirmed by the Club Managers and Tournament Officers.

Next steps

Please complete the tournament polls as these will form this the main basis for selection.

Interest in Captaincy

If you are interested in be a captain of either squad, email tournaments@londonraiders.co.uk and managers@londonraiders.co.uk with:

  • Which squad you’d like to captain (Competitive / Intermediate)

  • A quick note on your experience and availability for May–Aug weekends

Aside from the new Squads for more competitive tournaments, there will still be plenty of other tournament options across the season, please do look out for the usual Tournament Polls to log your interest in more Recreational level tournament play throughout the summer!
