Committee Meeting - 10th August

In attendance: Cristian, Stephen, Lucy, Gustav, Kurt

1. Training and games – return to play


a. Poll to be set up [Action: Gustav] to gauge interest in the following potential sessions:


i. Saturday 22 August – game (due to WC availability, to begin after midday), only for players who understand how to play, have an idea of the main rules, and have played at least 3 full softball games already. New players may spectate, provided this does not bring the total number of people attending to above 30. Minimum number required before booking / holding this game: 20. Max: 30.


ii. Tuesday 25 August – batting training (subject to pitch space being available, TBC), only for experienced players. Minimum number required before booking / holding this training: 10. Max: 20.


iii. Thursday 27 August – beginners training (subject to pitch space being available, TBC), for those brand new to softball in 2020. Minimum number required before booking / holding this training: 5. Max: 10.


iv. Monday 31 August – game (subject to pitch space being available, TBC), only for players who understand how to play, have an idea of the main rules, and have played at least 3 full softball games already. New players may spectate, provided this does not bring the total number of people attending to above 30. Minimum number required before booking / holding this game: 20. Max: 30.


v. Sunday 6 September – game only for players who understand how to play, have an idea of the main rules, and have played at least 3 full softball games already. New players may spectate, provided this does not bring the total number of people attending to above 30. Minimum number required before booking / holding this game: 20. Max: 30.

Volunteers sought from committee to run whichever of the above sessions go ahead [Action: all].


b. BSUK Return to Play guidance to be provided along with poll. All attendees to be made aware that they must follow the guidance, if they do not, they will be asked to leave the session. Members to be asked if anything further would enable them to feel safe playing / attending [Action: Gustav].


c. Further training sessions / games TBC once levels of interest and attendance have been reviewed following the above sessions.


d. Club funds to be used for these sessions, i.e. no PAYG payment to be asked of those attending. Kurt noting that we have credit with idverde and could seek to use this to pay for upcoming sessions.


e. [Action: Cristian] to contact The Hope to discuss accessing our kit.


f. [Action: Stephen] to read BSUK Return to Play guidance and follow requirements in new role as covid-19 officer – to include purchasing antiviral (preferably biodegradable) cleaning products and hand sanitiser, preparing risk assessment for pitch bookings, preparing contact tracing registers and scheduling / arranging data destruction of registers.

2. Finance


a. LSL refund not being sought (roll over to next season), save for £100 Indigo discount sum [Action: Kurt].

b. Charitable donations have been made in lieu of Pride.


c. Refund to be sought for Sons of Pitches [Action: Stephen].

3. Kit


a. Cristian in contact with Phase 4 and Baseball Outlet providers. Samples of shorts and game shirts to be requested, details of products available, turnaround times, sizing details, minimum orders to be circulated to committee [Action: Cristian].

4. Next meeting – to be organised as and when appropriate.
